The St Michael & St Martin School Parents Association exists to foster a feeling of ‘community’ amongst the parents and children, through its social events, whilst at the same time raising funds for the benefit of the school. All parents of St Michael & St Martin School children are automatically members of the School Association.
Apart from holding events which enable parents and children to socialise with each other, the Association, through its fundraising activities, generates an income on average of £5,000 per year, all of which is used to provide a wide range of additional school equipment and some optional extras to enrich the school curriculum. In the last few years, the Parents Association has paid for many different items requested by parents and staff including the outdoor classroom, affectionately known as ‘The Green Area', new fencing around the playgrounds, and as of Janurary 2016 they have donated money towards getting our school playing field AstroTurfed.
Throughout the year we have several small events, including cake sales, coffee mornings, mufti days, clothing donations and discos for the children. However our main event which takes place in the summer term is our School Fete. Last year we incorporated this event with a ‘Celebration of Languages Assembly’ and the fete had a multicultural theme to celebrate the many languages spoken by our pupils.
