St Anthony of Padua was a Catholic priest and friar known for his kindness, wisdom, and powerful preaching. He was born in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1195 and later joined the Franciscan order, dedicating his life to serving God and helping those in need.

St Anthony became well known for his deep knowledge of the Bible and his ability to explain the Christian faith in a simple and inspiring way. He travelled widely, sharing messages about love, forgiveness, and caring for the poor. Many people were drawn to his message and his gentle spirit.

He is especially known as the patron saint of lost things, and many people pray to him when they have misplaced something.

St Anthony died in 1231 and was canonised as a saint less than a year later. His feast day is celebrated on 13 June.

Living Our School Values

St Anthony’s life reminds us how we can live out our school values every day:

  • Kindness – showing care and compassion to everyone we meet.

  • Service – helping those in need and putting others first.

  • Respect – treating all people with dignity and understanding.

  • Faith – trusting in God and living according to Christian teachings.

By following St Anthony’s example, we can work together to build a caring, respectful, and faith-filled school community.

A Prayer to St Anthony

Dear St Anthony,
Help us to be kind and caring to everyone we meet.
Guide us to help others and to share what we have.
Teach us to be patient, respectful, and forgiving.
When we feel lost or worried, help us to trust in God.
Amen.
