  • Welcome

" Pupil achievement is outstanding… Pupil behaviour is outstanding…interactions observed during lessons between staff and pupils and peer to peer are exceptional.”

    Section 48 Inspection - May 2022

On behalf of everyone at St Michael & St Martin School, I am delighted to welcome you to our website. We hope it provides a snapshot of who we are, what we do, and the values that guide our school community.

We are a thriving and happy Catholic school, offering a broad and balanced curriculum designed to educate the whole child. Our aim is to support every pupil as they grow in confidence and independence, enabling them to move forward into the world striving to be the best that they can be. As noted by Ofsted in 2023, “Leaders want to ‘open up the world’ for pupils at this school.”

Catholic Religious Education is at the heart of our school and forms the foundation of the entire educational process. As Saint Pope John Paul II reminds us, it is the “core of the curriculum,” shaping our approach to learning, relationships and personal development. Our mission is to ensure that every child has access to an excellent school experience in every way.

We are extremely proud of our outstanding outcomes at Key Stage 2, which placed us 24th in The Times Best Primary Schools (December 2025) and consistently within the top 1% of schools nationally. This achievement is a direct result of the dedication, professionalism and high expectations of our staff, together with the hard work, commitment and positive attitudes of our pupils.

We are fortunate to be supported by a dedicated and committed governing body who play an integral role in the success of our school. Acting as a ‘critical friend,’ they both support and challenge us to maintain high standards. We also work closely in partnership with parents, recognising that by working together we can strive to achieve excellence for all our children.

I look forward to meeting you soon,

    With best wishes

    Nicola Duggan- Headteacher
