Saint Nicholas was a Christian bishop who lived in the 4th century in Myra (modern-day Turkey). He is remembered for his great kindness, generosity, and care for those in need, especially children and the poor.
From a young age, Nicholas was known for helping others. One famous story tells how he secretly left bags of gold for a poor family so that their daughters would not have to be sold into slavery. Because of stories like this, he became known as a protector of children and a model of Christian charity.
Saint Nicholas was brave in standing up for his faith during times of persecution. As a bishop, he guided his community with wisdom and compassion. After his death on 6th December, many miracles were linked to his prayers, and he became one of the most loved saints in the world.
He is the patron saint of children, sailors, and those in need. The tradition of gift-giving at Christmas is inspired by his generosity, and he is the original inspiration behind the figure of Santa Claus.
Saint Nicholas teaches us to:
Show generosity and share what we have.
Care for those who are vulnerable.
Act with kindness, even when no one is watching.
Stand up for what is right.
Living out our faith through actions.
By following his example, we help make our school a community built on compassion, respect, and service.
Dear God,
Thank you for the example of Saint Nicholas.
Help us to be generous and kind,
To care for those in need,
And to share your love with others.
May we give freely, forgive quickly,
And always choose to do what is right.
Amen.
Saint Gabriel the Archangel is one of the three archangels named in the Bible. His name means “God is my strength.” He is known as God’s messenger, bringing important news and guidance.
Gabriel appears in the Old and New Testaments. Most famously, he visited the Blessed Virgin Mary to tell her she would become the mother of Jesus — an event known as the Annunciation. Through this message, Gabriel showed obedience, courage, and trust in God’s plan.
Because he brought such joyful and important news, Saint Gabriel is the patron saint of messengers, communication workers, and postal services. He reminds us of the power of words and the importance of sharing good news with kindness and truth.
Saint Gabriel inspires us to:
Speak kindly and truthfully.
Listen carefully to others.
Share good news and encouragement.
Trust in God’s plan for us.
Show courage when doing what is right.
By following his example, we help create a school community where everyone feels heard, valued, and supported.
Dear God,
Thank you Saint Gabriel,
Who brought messages of hope and joy.
Help us to use our words wisely,
To listen with open hearts,
And to share kindness each day.
May we always trust in Your plan for us.
Amen.
