    Reading and writing:

    Phonics Read Write Inc:  

    Children will continue to learn their weekly sounds and build on blending simple words by the end of Summer 2.

    Please continue to support your child to use the Read Write Inc. Rhyme when writing letters such as; ‘around the apple and down the leaf’. In addition, continue to support your child in learning their sounds using their Set 1 sound cards that we send home weekly.

    Maths:

    In this term and net term in Maths, we will be focussing on:  

    • Sequencing daily routines and events in stores/ nursery rhymes

    • Extend and create ABAB patterns.

    • Understand position through words.

    • Recapping numbers 0-6

    • Experiment with their own symbols and marks as well as numerals.

    • Solve real world problems with numbers up to six.

    • Compare quantities using language: more than, fewer than.

    • Talk about and explore 3D shapes using informal and mathematical language.

    • Describe a familiar route

    • Discuss routes and locations.

    • Make comparisons between objects relating to size, length, weight and capacity.

    • Select shapes appropriately, e.g. flat surfaces for building.

    • Notice and correct an error in a repeating pattern.

    • Begin to describe a sequence of events, real or fictional

     General Reminders:

    ·      Please continue to support your child by writing their name and numbers 0-6, focusing on the formation.

    ·   Phonics Set 1 sounds every week. Please use them and support them! In addition, share the Ruth Miskin videos with your child.

    ·   Please continue to read with your child every day and involve them in the reading by asking questions about the story. Make it fun and exciting. You can dress up, add props and involve your family members! This will support your child’s understanding of the text that you read to them!

     

    ·      There are still children struggling to put their coats/ jumpers on. Please support your child to dress and undress independently and prepare them for Reception! 

     

    ·   Please use Tapestry to upload observations/ share your child’s achievements!
