Our Curriculum

Our Diverse Curriculum

“To have another language is to possess a second soul.”

Charlemagne

As a school, we are passionate that our children receive a broad, balanced, inclusive and diverse curriculum. Our specialist Italian Teacher exposes the children to conversational Italian in line with the National Curriculum aims. The children also love learning more about the Italian way of life. Each year we celebrate a whole school 'Languages Week' where we get to immerse ourselves in a variety of cultures. The children enjoy an enriched curriculum covering European languages and cultures, including more of our own pupils' wealth of cultural knowledge. We also get to share a sample of this in our whole school assembly with a variety of songs, dances and poems. It is an amazing chance to show off the vast variety of cultures we nurture here.

The learning of a foreign language in primary school provides a valuable educational, social and cultural experience for all pupils. Pupils develop communication and literacy skills that lay the foundation for future language learning. Learning another language raises awareness of the multilingual and multicultural world and introduces an international dimension to pupils' learning, giving them an insight into their own culture and those of others. The learning of a foreign language, Italian, provides a vehicle for cross-curricular links and for the reinforcement of knowledge, skills and understanding developed in other subjects.

Our Ambitious Curriculum

Pupils with Special Needs receive differentiated materials and learning based on individual needs and we pride ourselves on our Outstanding rating in all areas of SEN within our school.

Disadvantaged Pupils are in benefit of educational funds that go towards a number of different resources in order to leave no pupils behind.

More Able Pupils are pushed to excel in our Outstanding learning environment.
