Our Curriculum

Geography Curriculum

Our Geography curriculum has been carefully tailored to the match the needs of the children and wider community of St Michael and St Martin school. It is our vision to ensure that pupils and community are at the forefront of lesson planning which we believe is fundamental to creating the strongest learning outcomes. By reflecting and evaluating our practice year upon year, we are able to want our pupils to have a lasting interest in, and enjoyment of learning about the past. The ‘Big Question’ is focussed on throughout the units of work to aid in building an enquiry. Careful consideration is made to choose the units of study for each year group ensuring that the pupils are taught transferable skills and continue to develop them throughout their primary education.

Our Diverse Curriculum

As a school, we are passionate that our children receive a broad, balanced, inclusive and diverse curriculum. Within this subject, we will ensure children investigate a range of places – both in Britain and abroad – to help develop their knowledge and understanding of the Earth’s physical and human processes. We are committed to providing children with opportunities to investigate and make enquiries about their local area of Hounslow and London so that they can develop a real sense of who they are, their heritage and what makes our local area unique and special. We also develop the children’s ability to apply geographical skills to enable them to confidently communicate their findings.
