School Council
School Council 2021-22
Welcome to St Michael and St Martin’s School Council Page
Mrs Ward runs the meetings and oversees the council. Regular meetings take place within our school and the minutes are recorded by a member of the council. After each meeting, the school councillors go back to their classes and give feedback on the points that have been discussed at the meeting. This is important because the children then ask their peers if they have any valuable ideas or opinions in relation to the meeting minutes. The children take their roles very seriously and thoroughly enjoy the responsibilities that come with the role.
Mrs Norris leads pupil voice in the Early Years and she ensures that the children’s ideas and voices are heard and then she gives feedback to our School Council.
During our meetings this term the council have been coming up with lots of ideas on what we could do as a school to raise money for new resources for our school. They have also discussed possible charity fundraisers and favourable charities that they would like to raise money for and also ways in which we can make a positive difference in our local community.
“Our school is one big place filled with lots of love and kindness”
“I love coming to school because it makes me feel happy, I always feel safe here”
“Being part of this school is such a nice feeling, it is like being one big family”
This year we will continue to support:
- Developing the profile of our School Council
- Anti-bullying
- COP26 initiatives
- Building on resources for different areas of the curriculum
- Bringing the school community together
